These extraordinary photographs show what happened when a pack of wild puppies clashed with covetous hyenas over supper. 

The gathering of 21 grown-up pooches and seven pups were compelled to guard a valuable impala body after the ravenous scroungers tested for the dinner. 

The savage predators, named the Kanga Pack, completed the organized chase just meters far from a watching picture taker. 

Alistair Swartz, 30, caught the sensational scene at Mana Pools National Park in Zimbabwe.

Alistair said: "A couple of hyenas had been taking after the pooches the whole morning however had stayed away. 

"One of the hyenas strayed excessively close for the pack's enjoying and with no notice the mutts assaulted.

"The canines sought after the impala to finish depletion. They then encompassed it and closed in to make the final blow. 

"Being by walking twenty meters from a pack of wild mutts murdering an impala is an affair that very few individuals will ever get.

Alistair caught the grouping of occasions by walking - without the assurance of a vehicle.
